These three simple figures – the helping hand symbol - represent the sum total of United Way – Centraide’s mission - to improve lives and build community by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action. Put together, it's about you and me working together for our community. It is a symbol of hope, of service, and of help.
The helping hand symbol is used by United Ways - Centraides across Canada that are members in good standing with United Way of Canada - Centraide Canada.
The symbol is also used by United Ways in the United States that are members of United Way of America and in many other countries around the world by members of United Way International.
The symbol, name and font have been registered for use in Canada by United Way of Canada - Centraide Canada. In addition, United Way of Canada - Centraide Canada has trademarked the slogans "People Helping People" and "Thanks to you it's working". The symbol, name United Way and/or Centraide and the slogans can only be used by United Ways - Centraides that are members in good standing with United Way of Canada - Centraide Canada. They are marks that are properly protected under the law. The United Way - Centraide symbol and name cannot be altered in any way and must abide by the "United Way - Centraide Trademark Manual".
